Lost and Found
Description
Description I received from Eloise: I have 4 mixed media sketchbooks in my room, 2 of which have drawings and watercolors. One of which, I have lost. It has a faded blue cover, with speckles of white from all of the times it had brushed up upon other books in my bag. The cardstock is old and worn, the spirals slightly undone, but I still loved it. The first page had this unfinished meet the artist watercolor, I was wearing a striped blue, green, purple and orange button up with green pants. I didn’t have a mullet back then, so my hair was undercut completely. I didn’t finish the writing, or the sketchbook, I had only had it for a year. I did mostly ink and pencil sketches. I lost it in my room a couple months ago,, I remember keeping it under my bed somewhere. I hope that it resurfaces from the depths.
Design Process
I started wondering how I could draw the spirals of the notebook using simple shapes, using my sketchbook, I drew some basic notebooks from memory, and then realized they were only rectangles, with a little curve in the end. For the clothing description, I kind of tore the clothing apart, and tried to do it as similar as Eloise had told me, sticking to the basic shapes. As I went on building the object, I realized how easy building them is, when imagining their basic shapes.
Reflection
I recieved Eloise's description via Email, and she kindly added specific colors that helped me build her object as best I could. She also helped me after class to figure out some doubts I had. I interpreted her object as something personal to her, maybe my depiction of it is far from similar, but the color description really helped to get close to the real object. As I was building it, I re-read the description again and again, and suprisingly, I got a new insight everytime I read it. It may be because I got more comfortable adding shapes and colors to my code. The more I worked, the more I felt the object close and real to me I would very much like to see this object found and see how close to reality my depiction of it is!
